Here's a question: are there any really challenging parsing problems out there?

You could take a crack at unglue words joined together by juncture rules. It one of the most challenging parsing problems I've seen here, and I don't think the guy has a solution yet. As a bonus, the example given in the OP seems trivial, but is very cleverly devised to exercise several edgecases.

Examine what is said, not who speaks -- Silence betokens consent -- Love the truth but pardon error.
"Science is about questioning the status quo. Questioning authority".
In the absence of evidence, opinion is indistinguishable from prejudice.
"Too many [] have been sedated by an oppressive environment of political correctness and risk aversion."
