Yeah, I thought about moving stuff to a central instance and only querying that instance - which would still leave the GUI burden on the particular instances.
Sending messages to users via NET SEND is an interesting idea... I'll see whether that's enough or whether I need to customize the message beyond NET SEND's abilities.
Thanks for the pointer to the Microsoft docs. Everything I had found was a little vague...
