I've worked with PERL for a couple of years. I am not a programer but I like PERL and I've written a few web applications with it. But I've noticed that more and more sites are using ASP or PHP and less are using PERL. Am I correct? Is there an advantage to the other languages or is it simply a matter of choice or just preference? I find that PERL is easy for managing DB with DBI and I am starting to get into CGI.pm (I've been using straight HTML) Obviously most here prefer PERL, but why? And how different is PERL than ASP? This may be a weird meditation but I was guided here from perlguru in the hopes of finding the true path.
