As my first post makes clear, I am not a programmer. I am what you might call functionally illiterate when it comes to Perl.

None the less I’ve managed to create a few applications with my limited knowledge of Perl.

I would like an opinion on a web application that I am starting as part of a larger app. The website involves CA (construction administration.)

In the building industry it is typical for the architect to offer CA services to the client for the construction phase of a project.

There are several functions required in CA management which involves mainly arranging, maintaining and manipulating a data base. All information must flow through the architect and be processed then flow back out to the necessary parties (subcontractors, developers, owners, etc.) It typically is a very large amount of information and documents that need to be filed and trackedand it is mostly done in Excel.

One of the functions of CA is processing RFI’s (request for information) which run the whole gamut of questions any and all subs, general contractors, and on and on may have that pertain to the construction project. RFI’s need to be responded to in a timely manner, immediately to be more precise, since a large amount of money is usually involved in the response of an RFI.

I know of only one online system that addresses CA as an online tool and it is an application developed by AUTOCAD, Autodesk actually. This application is called BUZZSAW but it is very hard to use and not user friendly at all IMHO. It is very robust but very top heavy. It takes a great deal of time to manage an account with BUZZSAW let alone the actual project.

I am in the process of developing an online application devoted solely for CA. I am building it in a module framework; one tool at a time kind of thing.

The first tool I have finished, almost, is the RFI module or tool. Here is the link to it http://rfiondemand.com/demo001/ and I would humbly ask for opinions.

It is entirely in Perl with a couple of javascripts. It is not completely finished. I need to add a rich text editor to make inputting easier and some other bells and whistles as well as fix some search functions and the like. The whole structure is rather simple. Really only a database manipulation.

I would appreciate any constructive criticism. Please feel free to navigate the links just below the graphic.

I thank you.
