I'm just looking for a GUI based IDE that is easy to use so I can focus on my code rather than peculiarities of debugger.
It sounds like exactly the opposite is happening :)

Perhaps someone more familiar with eclipse/epic can give you some tips. I use the built-in perl debugger. There's a fairly gentle tutorial for it.
