You consider someone to be a newbie when s/he:

  • has never used a module
  • thinks regexp is a variant form of the EXPR tag that shows up in perldoc
  • is CowboyNeal
  • thinks JAPH stands for Just Acquired Peripheral Hardware
  • does not recognise any of the names of the Saints in our book
  • is not able to build a module
  • does not  use strict, -w or -T
