I have always found that strict and -w just get in the way when one wants something up fast. Generally when I do this kind of thing I find they complain about specifics which I'm sure are very handy in large hard to manage code, but as I am never in a position where I must write huge apps in perl... I find them more a hindrance than help.

In this particular instance I am just trying to get my head around some Tk elements I've never used before, I just don't see a need for the added drama associated with strict.

It's 1am I will try that code out tomorrow, thanks a lot for the hint. I'm not sure why it was unrunable, I have it working here in Eclipse/EPIC and command line.. *scratches head*

Thanks again!
Peter.
