I just spent a better part of my day on the 'net tracking down information regarding Javascript for a system I am supporting. Totally struck out this time, a miserable failure of a search.

My travels today have given me an even greater appreciation of what we have here in the Monastery.

Without going into all the things that soured my entire javascript journey, here are the things that I think we can all very much appreciate about our humble and comfy abode.

• We have a easily navigable site, it's fast and searches typically bring you so much relevent information, the trouble is mostly determining "which way to do it today".
• You tend to get immediate/timely responses
• those responses are typcially on track, and helpful
• self-policing here tends to work without intervention from a supreme being
• ...and so does the code
• popup ads? not a chance
• areas dedicated to creating popup ads that won't go away are non-existent (i.e. this culture isn't about marketing scams)...and you know, most scammers who arrive looking for help are typcially immediately identified as such...and not glorifed
• You can rest assure that a designated guru, in fact is.

Whew, this venting monk feels much better now...
