Help for User Settings has a section on Display Settings.

In the Special Tags subsection, between the paragraph on Overide <readmore tags and the Customize CPAN link options, my settings currently display this line

render spoiler tags as

On its own, just like that.

Is this a feature of my settings or is there some other reason for it to be there?

to format your post, it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":
