Nicholas Clark released perl-5.8.9 a few hours ago.

In November he had announced that this is an end-of-life release, the stable 5.8-branch of perl will only see security updates after this release.

In related not-so-new-anymore news Dave Mitchell will receive some funding for working on the 5.10.1 maintenance release.

A big Thank You go toes to Nicholas Clark and all the people who help him with testing, patching, writing the perl589delta or where otherwise helpful.
