You know, it doesn't matter if you are correct or not, chances are no one here will believe you much. You can make this go away more quietly by not participating or stand firm
and make your point stick better by registering, participating, building up your creditability by proving your coding abilities, then making your case.
Deprecated has done this, and when he says something, people will generally believe him.
Now, the other reason why people may not believe you as your story sounds so much like what we have all heard from midlevel excusamtrons that you may actually lend
some credence to Deprecated's tale of woe.
In any event, there was some connection, there was some assistance, some attempt on his part to help out your efforts. The best you could to is thank him, apologize for *at a minimum* not communicating with him directly and sooner.
And if, as you say, his efforts on your behalf were unused, I am sure Deprecated would like to know why (at a minimum to check his code).
