The idea of voting on my home node doesn't feel so good to me. The content on that node is really more for me than others - though I'm happy if others also benefit.

I have been very grateful when people who like my user page send me a message or make a positive comment in the CB, especially if they are specific about what they enjoyed. That means a lot more to me than ++ on my home node or any XP it might yield.

Why not express your appreciation via a message? It is a great way to get to know other monks on a one-to-one basis.
