Just a comment on CPAN, since you brought it up and I am tired of hearing everyone say how great it is. In general it's good and has inspired much. There's a CGRAN for GnuRadio. But CPAN needs more than a GUI front-end so people can use the code there. CPAN needs a way to remove duplicated stuff that is no longer maintained. It needs to allow people to take over projects that have been left to whither and contain un-fixed bugs for years. Maybe we need CPAN NG.
