Choose Programming. Choose a corporate job. Choose lame users.
Choose a big monitor, fast CPU, your own disk farm, bandwidth to swamp,
CD burner and five different MP3 players. Choose pasty skin, high blood
pressure, and serious grooming issues. Choose a home you rarely visit.
Choose friends you never see face to face. Choose t-shirts with
camel jokes. Choose cubicles with fabric walls that fade into the distance
at midnight. Choose writing your own CGI handler and wondering how your
site got hacked on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting at your desk writing
mind-numbing, spirit-crushing status reports, pouring coffee down your throat.
Choose rotting away debugging someone else's code until you realize that
you can replace your co-workers with small shell scripts.
Choose a future. Choose contracting.
