version control has already talked a lot about this topic and the current favoured options, but I am wondering if anything has changed since 2005...
Googling etc... version control gives me lots of options but not much subjective guidance...
I am interested mainly in *nix environment (fedora).

• is SVN still the favourite?
• is http://svnbook.red-bean.com/ still maintained?
• Are there any new contenders?
• Are the SVN perl bindings more stable these days?
• Of the many SVN related modules are there any that people have a preference for and why?
