I would agree with astroboy about Moose::Manual::Unsweetened it is great intro to help bridge the old-school to new-school gap. As for the CS-ey terminology you might try reading Moose::Manual::Concepts to help understand some of those things. You might also find some of the comments in this thread useful as well.
