I tested it ( perl -MO=Xref -de 1) in 5.10.0 and it did not work.

I tested it ( perl -MO=Xref -de 1) in 5.8.9 and it did work.

I tested it ( perl -MO=Xref -de 1) in 5.10.1 and it did work.
