I'm creating a private class structure under Foo, named Foo::Bar.
package Foo::Bar;
use Carp;
our @ISA = ();
1;
sub new {
my ($class, %opt) = @_;
my $self = {};
bless ($self, $class);
$self->init(%opt);
return $self;
}
From here, I want to inherit the constructor and some other stuff in subclass like so:
package Foo::Bar::Baz;
use strict;
use warnings;
use Carp;
our @ISA = qw( Foo::Bar );
1;
sub init {
my $self = shift;
my %opt = @_;
# do the actual init for this specific class
}
Why then, does my test script not work??
#!/usr/bin/perl
use strict;
use warnings;
use Foo::Bar::Baz;
my $item = Foo::Bar::Baz->new();
but instead yield an error:
Can't locate object method "new" via package "Foo::Bar::Baz" at ./huh line 107.
It's like the @ISA doesn't exist, what's going on?? I must have done this a million times but for some reason it doesn't on this machine... This is perl 5.8.8 on a Gentoo Linux and I'm ashamed to say this simple thing has had me stuck for over an hour now :-|
