For some cross platform (Linux and WinXP) Perl scripts, I need frequently pathnames above 260 chars. In Linux, no problem at all; yet, I can easily have the files on NTFS disks in WinXP too despite the 260 char limitation--tools like Total Commander now have no problem with log names at all. Yet, if I run under WinXP Perl scripts which are perfectly fine under Linux, I am hit by this ridiculous 260-char limit.
I tried a few things I read on the web (\\?\UNC\, etc.) but nothing seems to work--I am not even sure what I should do exactly.
Could you help and point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
