Dear Monks, this is my first posting to this part of the Monastery, I am writing this with regard to what I've been observing on the differences for the numbers displayed at the number of replies link for certain nodes at different places in the Monastery...

At the Monastery gates, the link descriptive of the number of replies a node received is different than the actual number of replies which is correctly displayed at the SOPW page for the same node...

for instances, consider Building a UNIX path from Irritating data node when viewed from the Monastery Gates it shows that there are 5 replies for it (at this time) while in fact the node has only three replies, eval() and security has 13 replies while the same node at Monastery Gate describes that there exists 16 replies. Trying to pull the key values from a Hash has 7 replies but it says there are 9.. I've been watching these differences only recently, I am not aware of their existence before that because I did not pay attention but it seems that at SOPW the number of replies corresponds to the number of replies while at the Monastery Gates the number of replies is higher than the actual number of replies for the same nodes...

How is the number of replies considered and implemented across different sections of the Monastery and where/why does there seem to lie the reason for a propagation to occur??

Thanks for any enlightenment and I am concerned and willing to learn from your wisdom...

Update: It never occurred to me that this has been discussed many a times and that this is a known bug. Thanks ambrus and thanks to the ones who observed this years ago...
