On GNU/Linux almost any text editor can color Perl. My favorites are vivi does not colour code any language. Don't get fooled by Linux distros renaming some non-vi editor to vi (and different distros pick different editors). That's as useful as renaming ruby to perl. You probably mean nvi, Vim, Elvis, vile, or some other vi-clone - AFAIK, all of them are capable of colour coding many languages.
