Take a look at the ucfirst and lc functions.

  $name = "RONNIE NUNN";
  $name = ucfirst( lc( $name ) );

buuuuhhh... (aka 'update'). Not thinking, sorry ... that only handles the first character. Try something like ...

  $name = "RONNIE NUNN";
  $name =~ s/(\S+)/\u\L$1/g;
