If you want to create art, look at the various canvas widgets available in the various GUI toolkits, like Tk::Canvas, Tk::Zinc, Goo::Canvas, Gtk2::DrawingArea, etc.

Finally, see the Tk::Zinc tutorial Zinc is a canvas that handles motion, position, and zooming effectively...... great for artistic effects.
