After I release my next version of my module, I can help you out on making Parse::BBCode run faster. I would have to look into it more to understand how its made, but I do think we can make it a lot more faster.

The next version of my module will be "superschnelle", but I have to do some tests to see how well it filters the text. Have to update the POD text and files of the archive too.

But after that I will have some time to look into Parse::BBCode, If your ok with it.
