I'm curious, how do you know that it did not add any value, for anybody reading the thread?

For me, perlmonks is not just about answering questions, but about teaching people who want to learn about Perl.

Worse, the OP was bombarded with what are essentially off-topic questions.

I don't consider questions that might lead to a solution (through modules) off-topic. But this discussion certainly is, so I will discontinue it after this node.
