What, you mean, no security issues are found in non-open source?

Open source does not imply things move forward - there's ton of open source software that doesn't. There's also tons of closed source software that does move forward. The same with security. Just because it's "open" doesn't mean there are less security issues (hello sendmail).

Just seems like an error in your reasoning to think that the only reasons people want open source is to edit it, or get it free.
Actually, I think you are the one with an error in your reasoning. You're making a classical X-Y error. You want X, and you think Y (and only Y) is giving you that.
