I have good results using DBI + DBD::ODBC, it probably doesn't have all the features of DBD::Oracle, but allows me to get things done on multiple databases, rather than just Oracle. Disclaimer: There are people who claim that it's slow, but I've not had any speed issues with ODBC access.
