You've just GOT to be kidding me. Compared to Marshall's code, this is like going from San Francisco to Los Angeles by way of Denver.

Level FOURTEEN? Gawd. This site has sure lost it since the late 1990s. The question asker said he's a NEWBIE but even if he wasn't your multi-map solution is execreble.

What's clear is that even the people who are allegedly "better" than Marshall's level 15 don't have any desire to EDUCATE newbies asking for help. Instead, you provide "gee whiz" solutions that only very experienced Perlers can parse. IS this is what is known as the Perl "community"?? No wonder it has peaked while garbage like Python and Rails catch up ... 'cause it sure ain't due to the merits of Python or Rails.
