Question. Suppose you have 16 players, ranked 1-16. From your description, I deduce that you'd like player 1 play players 16, 15, ..., 2, and player 16 to play 1, 2, ..., 15. But what's the preference for the other players? If all players should start with playing against those who are furthest away from them in strength, half of the players should play against player 1 in the first round, and the other half against player 16.

So, what's the preferred sequence of play for player 8? And for player 12?
