Consider starting with the core modules included with your Perl distribution.Sage advice in the right hands but taken as a broad, generic statement, this is not a good idea. I assume the OP is looking to help new Perl programmers get up to speed with current techniques but modules found in the CORE were designed up to a decade ago and do not follow "Modern" "Best Practices" for various reasons (legacy support, etc.).
