I recall a discussion here some time ago (years?) regarding whether or not short "thank you" notes of appreciation within threads are welcome. A point was made that they don't serve any useful purpose and merely take up space in a given thread. However, I don't recall the outcome of the discussion and cannot find it via the Super Search.
