If it's the OP then I would prefer the Thank Yous were added as an update the original node, maybe with links to the specific nodes that were helpful. Private messages are also good. With that said, I usually just do not upvote or downvote a thank you (unless it has a lot of details in it). If people are downvoting thank you nodes then imo some people clearly have too much time and too many votes on their hands.
