You missed the point. The error is on line 82 of something being executed by sh, not something executed by perl. The only shell code you showed has only one line, so you haven't showed us the relevant code.

No printf on the lines of code I displayed, you are correct however that is the error that I am given.

Well, until you find the printf, what do you expect us to do?

and Perl wants to do printf on % signs instead of printing them.

This makes no sense potato.

Perl uses printf when told to use printf.

And it's sh (not perl) calling printf.
