Hi Perk Monks,

I am a newbie and I need some help installing a CPAN module manually.

I created a ppd file(Wrote the code in wordpad, saved it as .XML and then converted to .PPD) saved it in c:\perl\bin\Repository. Here is the XML file I wrote

<SOFTPKG NAME="Win32-SerialPort" VERSION="0,22,0,0"> <TITLE>Win32-SerialPort</TITLE>
TO ESTABLISH CONNECTION WITH HYPERTERMINAL
<AUTHOR>XXX</AUTHOR> <IMPLEMENTATION> <OS NAME="WinXP/.NetProfessional"/> <ARCHITECTURE NAME="WinXP/.NetProfessional-x86" /> <CODEBASE HREF="x86/Win32-SerialPort-0.22.tar.gz" /> </IMPLEMENTATION> </SOFTPKG>

I saved the actual .tar.gz file in C:\Perl\bin\Repository\x86. OS is Windows Xp. IfI add the regsitory I am getting the error message "The URL must be absolute or local directory".

Please help....
