Try Net::SSH2. One of the reasons for the move away from Net::SSH::Perl to Net::SSH2 is all the problems getting the former's dependencies installed properly.

Someone may have an answer for you, but the best thing to do is move up to Net::SSH2. See A little demo for Net::SSH2 for examples of how to convert your code.
