Any code is better than no code. A small self contained demo script with input data, output expected output along with a description of how actual output and expected output differ is ideal. For a few ideas about how such a script can be put together see I know what I mean. Why don't you? - the very first sample script there seems likely to be a good starting point for you.
Also always use strictures (use strict; use warnings; - see The strictures, according to Seuss). Really and truly they will save you heaps of time you could spend lounging around in the sun.
