3 1/2 years ago I was given, what was obviously a bottle in wrapping paper, as a present by a mate who'd just returned from Eastern Russia -- Kamchatka Peninsula -- with a little label on it that read: "Newcastle to coals".
It was a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale, bought in a tiny general store in a small fishing village there. It was one of three bottles on the shelf. My mate bought them all, despite that he hated brown ale.
The bottling date encoded on the label was 1991. It tasted fine and I'm still here.
