Warning: this is going to be a 'gimme' post.

I have a script which runs for a long time and redirecting its output simply by open *STDOUT,'>>out.txt';open *STDERR,'>>out.txt'; is not enough (I wan't to know what it is doing while running).

I need a solution which prints STDOUT and STDERR both to the screen and to a file at the same time. Please (besides educating me with links to tutorials and modules) give me a complete, foolproof, runnable solution.
