This might come as a shock to you but not everyone's life is organized around knowing the current versions of every possible emacs package available. I'm using what's provided in the emacs package that's distributed with the CentOS image provided by my company and no, I don't get a vote on what that is. I have many responsibilities at work and this one (putting together an standard emacs environment for Perl), while not unimportant, is not at the top of the priority list and not really my primary expertise. If you can't answer a simple, reasonable inquiry without gratuitous snark and condescension I'd prefer that you not answer any of my inquiries at all. I'd rather not know the answer than be talked down to.
