OK. Well, I hadn't though to try that. I guess that it didn't occur to me that it might have a bearing on the problem. I did spend some time this evening trying a few variations on the theme, however. None of them seemed to make any difference. The popup always appears in the main monitor rather than the left monitor, where Tk's main window is.
