These are basically the links I was unhappy with.

The Win32-gui tutorial writers lost interest rapidly. Parts 6,7 and 8 are all 'TBD'

The Wx tutorial is laughably bad. http://wxperl.sourceforge.net/tutorial/tutorial5.html 'TBC' before it's done anything.
