Thank you for your detailed reply, with many additional hints. For me your most valuable hint was http://docs.activestate.com/activeperl/5.14/lib/Tkx/Tutorial.html. It's a pity that I wasn't aware of this tutorial before. My feeling is that every newcomer to Tkx should read it.
