From the OP:

I need to read some DNA sequences and check if they start with 'ATG' and end in 'TAA', 'TAG' or 'TGA'

Given the sequence:

ATGXXXTAAXXXTAA

your code outputs:

ATGXXXTAA

whereas it should print the whole string (or 'true', or whatever).
