Hello monks, I thought I knew how to do this, but apparently I don't:

$ perl mpj2.pl
file: /home/dan/Desktop/upload
$ ls /home/dan/Desktop/upload
179148_10150875347426275_161694845_n.jpg
484180_10150840098410957_750520549_n.jpg
526160_329491527117931_212574393_n.jpg
532875_317265865025966_675027772_n.jpg

$ cat mpj2.pl
#!/usr/bin/perl -w

my @files = </home/dan/Desktop/upload>;
my $counter = 0;

for my $img (@files) {
  print "file: $img\n";
  $counter++;
  my $filename = "image_". "$counter";

}

$

Had I been successful, I would have seen these files all renamed to the concatenation of image_ and a number. Thanks for your comment.
