Sounds like you could benefit from some basic debugging: 

 % locate /Storable.pm | xargs grep -w VERSION

 % locate /Storable.

 % perl -del
 > use XSLoader
 > l XSLoader::load
 > b 92
 > use Storable
 > x $INC{'Storable.pm'}
 > x $file
 > x @INC
 > q
