Other solutions exist. See How to stat a file with a Unicode (UTF16-LE) filename in Windows?, enumerate windows unicode filenames and Win32 API directory searches that return wide / unicode filenames. I'm sure Super Search will find even more nodes that deal with this topic, it's quite common around here.
