And you did that from the command line on the CGI host, correct? If that's the case, I don't know why LWP is having trouble looking up the host name.

Yes, it was definitely on the CGI host. DNS was the first thing I thought of, especially since there were some DNS issues a few weeks back. But this script works from command line, whether as root or as apache user, and fails as a CGI. Frustrating. bassplayer bangs his head on his desk (again)... bassplayer	[reply]

Is your apache perhaps running in a chroot environment? I've had problems like this when my apache was in a chroot environment which didn't include the /etc/resolv.conf or other requirements for resolving DNS.	[reply]
