You did it right to express "current directory".
However, cron's current directory doesn't seem to be the one you had in mind: I guess cron will use the user's home.

You might want to chdir to the directory or use the full path of the file in open.

I guess cron will use the user's home User's? I thought cron will run jobs for root only.	[reply]

I thought cron will run jobs for root only. If it is set up in such a way that it only runs for root, yes. That depends on how much ~~`root`~~ the sysadmin will trust you, I guess =) Sören	[reply]
