profion has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I have a number of CDRs and CDRWs and often I am not sure where something is that I am looking for, so I put in a few disks and look, but I have been thinking that it would be easy with perl to save a ls or dir of a disk and be able to sort through that, saving me lots of time. Has someone already done something like this? If not where should I start? Thanks

Hehe! You're just the person for freshmeat. Do a simple search for "CD database" and you'll get about a gagillion hits. While probably not Perl, most of them offer some type of Web interface using PHP. Find one that automagically scans whatever dir you need to.
Thanks! I actually did think of looking there, but the I couldn' think of what to search for. I guess CD database was too easy.
