This is my first perl poem and my first poem anyway.
About an unfortunate situation I had the unpleasure to watch.

#/usr/bin/perl $parents = 'father+mother'; $children = "loved kids"; @divorce = split(/\+/, $parents) ; $stateofmind{$divorce[0]} = "sad"; $stateofmind{$divorce[1]} = "desparated"; $stateofmind{$children} = "horrified";

Updated Thanks to merlyn :-)

    I think it is clever and poignant: the suggestion that after the divorce everything is part of a big hash. Very eloquent, very sad, my sympathies.
